Mixed Winter Vegetables Winter vegetables such as romanesco, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, parsnips, carrots, fennel, onions and lettuce keep the market going all year long.
Red Cabbage Red cabbage is favored for its addition of color and nutrition to winter salads.
Mushrooms In addition to the King Trumpet mushrooms pictured, the vendor at the market offers Portabello, Mattake, Lion's Mane, Shiitake, Straw, Tree Oyster, and red and yellow specialty Oyster mushrooms as well as other varieties.
Baby Squash Tender baby squash and squash blossoms are a favorite delicacy of market goers.
Bok Choy Asian vegetable are in high demand at the Mountain View market. Some of the offerings include Thai and Chinese broccoli, several varieties of spinach, yam greens, several varieties of basil, mint, cilantro, parsley, peanuts, snow peas, fennel, celery, daikon radish and numerous other types of greens including napa cabbage and the bok choy pictured here.
Cauliflower Cauliflower is a consistent winter staple.
Strawberries Because farmers from all over the state come to the Mountain View farmer's market, sweet strawberries are available for about eight months of the year. Many other delicious types of berries are available during the summer months. Blueberries and raspberries can be found in late summer and fall, usually through the end of November when most other fresh berries are gone.
Leeks Leeks are another staple offering at the market during the cooler months.
Golden Beets Many varieties of beets can be found at the market including the traditional red and the pictured golden beets.
Purple Kohlrabi The farmer's market is a great place to introduce yourself to colorful and interesting vegetables such as purple kohlrabi.
Daikon Radishes Daikon radishes are a favorite for Asian cooking.
Potatoes A number of different varieties of potatoes are offered at the market. Shown here are Yukon Gold, red potatoes, Russet bakers, and Purple Viking potatoes.
Asparagus Asparagus is offered over an extended season as spring arrives in sequence at farms in southern to northern California.
Rainbow Chard Several varieties of chard are available at the market including Swiss, Rhubarb, Bright Lights, and Rainbow chard.
Peas Both English peas and snow peas are sold at the market during the cooler months of the year.
The Mountain View Farmers' Market is the largest in the South San Francisco Bay Area. It consists of approximately 70 vendors at peak season. Because of the diverse population around Mountain View, the Market's vendors offer a wide variety of produce and prepared foods from which to choose. Many of these vendors offer certified organically grown fruits and vegetables, giving the consumer excellent choices for flavorful, healthy eating at fair prices!
